Sunday Morning with Bauli

When Bauli sent us all sorts of delicious goodies mom said “mmm nothing like panettone and coffee!” We take the word of Nancy very seriously around here when it comes to Italian desserts. So we made a delicious little frosting to top 2 slices of pandoro, and enjoyed it with some fresh coffee. Needless to say, she was right. De-lish.
Doesn’t this make you want to cuddle up and spend the day in bed? Us too. Happy Sunday.
what you need:
-1/2 cup cream cheese
-1/2 cup icing sugar
-teaspoon of almond extract
-small piece of dark chocolate
-handful of hazelnuts
what to do:
1. Mix the cream cheese, icing sugar and almond extract in a bowl.
2. Slice your pandoro with a sharp serrated knife, being careful not to distort the pretty star shape.
3. Spread the frosting over your pandoro.
4. Use a vegetable peeler to shave some dark chocolate over the frosting.
5. Roast hazelnut for 12 minutes at 350ºF on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper.
6. If they are slightly brown and smell delicious they’re ready, otherwise pop them back in for another minute or two.
7. While they’re still warm top the pandoro and bring your hunny some breakfast in bed!
